WOM NEWSLETTER Volume 1

Greetings from the mission field! Welcome to Volume 1 of The Whites On Mission Newsletter, where we share stories of God’s work across the nations.

We are excited that you can join us in prayer while we are helping carry out The GREAT COMISSION.  Matthew 28:16-20 says, “the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshiped him, but some doubted. Jesus then came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”

In 2022 we began the process of applying with the International Mission Board (IMB) to accept a role as Logistics Services Coordinator in Colombia, South America. Our position will be supporting  missionaries while they are on the field in several countries including Colombia by coordinating their visas, passports, housing, cars, etc.   In 2024 we were approved by the Trustees and appointed.  Our family went to VA for training for seven weeks to prepare.  It was a rich time for us as a family to be together and even the boys were going through their missionary training school.  During this time, Andrew was convicted by the Holy Spirit of his own need for a savior, and Kevin led him to the Lord, using one of the evangelistic tools we were taught!

We are thankful for the many friends and family who have prayed for us and supported us in so many ways through this process.  Our sending church, Cornerstone Baptist Church, in Lafayette, IN has been a huge support.

Currently we are in Puebla, Mexico attending a Spanish Institute to prepare us for Colombia by learning Spanish and acclimating back into Latin American culture.  We are acclimating to the altitude at 6,500 feet which will help us when we get to Bogota which is 8,500 feet!  We are drinking lots of water and keeping a watchful eye on the local volcano, Popocatépetl which we are told is safer because it constantly puffs out ash like a chimney which relieves pressure to prevent eruptions.  Needless to say, it is a reminder of the awesomeness of God’s creation!

An amazing opportunity we have while with the IMB is to connect and be a resource for Southern Baptist Churches.  We have thirty churches in IN, IL, KY, and MI that we are connecting with this year.  The churches will also be able to connect with our family with prayer and support us through the Cooperative Program when their church gives and offering.  International Missionaries are supported through the designated offing for Lottie Moon.  We are thankful for you!  Please ask your SBC church who their assigned IMB missionary is. 

We pray that one day many of you will be able to come visit us in Colombia and help serve.

Our website will give updates and allow you to see Mexico and Colombia.  Through our photos you will enjoy making connections and feeling like you are with us.

The prayer section will give upcoming events we would like for you to be in prayer with us for.  Of course we will let you know about answered prayers too.
